How the fairness proof works
Why nobody — not even the host — can pick the winner, and how anyone can check.
Every draw is provably fair: the winners come from a secret number (the seed) that is locked before the draw.
Lock
When the host closes entries, we publish the seed's fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash). The fingerprint proves the seed already existed, without revealing it.
Draw
The server combines the seed with the locked entry list to pick each winner. The animation on the Stage only reveals a result that is already decided.
Prove
After the draw we reveal the seed. Anyone can check that it matches the fingerprint and recompute exactly the same winners from the published entry list. The raffle's Fairness page has a verifier that runs in your browser.
What this means
- The host can't choose winners or re-run the draw until they like the result.
- Re-draws (for example when a winner isn't present) are recorded with a reason.
